From Maria House you can reach different villages and beaches on foot within between 20-40 minutes.
Villages
Patitiri is the main harbour and village of the island and here you can find all kinds of food stores, tavernas, cafes and souvenir shops. There's also a village beach with gravel and sand where you can swim and the water has the most green-blue colour. If you want to reach Patitiri from the house you follow the asphalt road the first bit and then paths and steps the rest of the way or you can continue along the asphalt road all the way down. (20 minutes)
Rousoum is the neighbouring bay to Patitiri and about 30 minutes on foot from the house. It consists of a nice beach with gravel and sand and is surrounded by rocks and pine trees hanging over the edges towards the water. Just behind the beach you'll find several tavernas and cafes. You can continue to Rousoum directly from Patitiri (10 minutes walk).
Palia Alonnisos (The Old Village) can be reach on foot in about 40 minutes. First you follow the asphalt road for about 15 minutes and then the old donkey track the rest of the way. For a description of this village please see "Palia Alonnisos".

Beaches
Megalos Mourtias is a lovely beach with a great view over steep rocks and the island of Skopelos. The beach is covered with flat stones and each end is bounded by steep cliffs. In the turquoise coloured, crystal clear water there is sand almost everywhere, and the water is quite shallow for several metres. Behind the beach there is an olive grove, where you can find shade under the big trees. There are two tavernas on the beach, and beach chairs to rent. You can reach the beach on foot along the asphalt road and an earth road that takes you down through a lovely ravine (30 minutes).
Vithisma is a long beach surrounded by dense pine woods on the steep hillside behind. Both on the beach and out in the water there are big stones, small stones and black sand. The beach is little visited. You can reach the beach along earth roads and foot paths in about 30 minutes.
Plakes is a rocky beach which consists of beautiful rock-formations that flatten out down towards the sea. At one spot there's a very small stony beach. The cliffs form small basins where you can take a dip. There are some big pine trees near by the cliffs where you can find shade. The beach is little visited. You follow the asphalt road towards Patitiri but turn right at a certain point along the coastline. Soon after this you turn left along a path that takes you to the beach (all and all 20 minutes).
